Happenings

Babysitting course Port Orange Fire and Rescue will offer a babysitting course from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 19 at Fire Station 72, 5839 Trailwood Drive. Cost is $30 and includes all supplies, snacks, drinks and lunch. Students must be at least 11 years old. Register from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at Port Orange Fire Station 3, 1090 City Center Blvd. For more information, call 386-506-5906.

Watching the birds Halifax River Audubon has the following free bird watching field trips scheduled. Call for confirmation of dates and time.

Dinner and dance The Polish American Pulaski Club, 3621 U.S. 92 W. in Daytona Beach, have dinner-dances scheduled every Sunday in January. Dinner begins at 1 p.m. followed by dancing from 2 to 5:30. Today will feature music with Ron Luznar and Polka Pals; Jan. 17, Dan and General Pulaski Band; and Jan. 24, the Bob Kravos Band. Members, $1; nonmembers, $17; tickets for dance only, $8. Looking for members Those interested in forming a local Armed Forces Top Enlisted Association chapter are invited to a social gathering at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 13 at VFW Post 3282, 5830 S. Craft and flea market The Palmetto Club, 1000 S. Beach St., Daytona Beach, will have a craft show/mini flea market on Jan 23. The sale will feature crafts, second-hand and new items. The sale will benefit club charities.

Chili fest VFW Post 3282 ladies auxiliary will have an all-you-can-eat chili fest from 2 to 7 p.m. Jan. 17 at the post, 5810 S. Williamson Blvd., Port Orange. Cost is $5. For more information, call 386-761-7217.

Father/daughter dance The Junior League of Daytona Beach will have their annual father/daughter formal dinner and dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Hilton Daytona Beach Resort Ocean Walk. The event is the signature fundraiser of the League and proceeds will benefit organizations including "The Children's Advocacy Center, PACE Center for Girls and the Children's Home Society. Tickets are $85 for one father/daughter couple, $35 for additional daughters. Reservations will be accepted through Feb. 2. Tickets are available online at jldb.org or by calling, 386-253-7486.
